Mark ODoherty PHOTOI am currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the UKCRC Centre of Excellence for Public Health, Queen’s University Belfast. My postdoctoral training to date has been in the field of cardiovascular and cancer epidemiology, and healthy ageing. I am currently core to the strategic organisation of the cardiovascular disease and diabetes Work Package within the EU 7th framework CHANCES Project: Consortium on Health and Ageing: Network of Cohorts in Europe and the United States. In this present post, I have recently been awarded a three year CARDI Leadership Programme in Ageing Research Fellowship to explore differences in trends in work related disability, and of the differences in the way people report disability between nations and across different national health and welfare service contexts. This will be achieved through the use of the Northern Ireland Cohort for the Longitudinal Study of Aging (NICOLA). With the support of this Fellowship I will build upon my current ageing research interests, and lay the foundation for a career as a research leader within the NICOLA study.
