Isatou Jallow

UN World Food Programme, Rome
Opening Lecture: Improving Nutrition in Africa and Women

Isatou Jalow will offer an opening lecture at the III World Congress of Public Health Nutrition, at the afternoon of Sunday November the 9th.

Her near 25 years of experience dealing with the relationship between nutrition, gender, women's issues and advocacy make her point of view especially interesting to understand the importance of placing nutrition on the world's development agenda.

She was born in The Gambia, and her position as former Chief of Women, Children an Gender Policy for the UN World Food Programme (WFP), based in Rome, has placed her in the diary work for the Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women.

Furthermore, her previous experience as Executive Director of the National Nutrition Agency in the Gambia converts her into an eminence in the field, whose vision can show us one of the most realistic assumptions about the needs of the work for global nutrition.
